A Couple Family Outings

We ventured out as a family, two days in a row! The big guys want to stay home most of the time, so it’s a treat for me!

The Ten Grands concert in Portland was a lot of fun! Ten grand pianos and the youngest pianist was ten. There was a lot of humor and songs the kids know, in addition to introductions to famous composers and their works.

The next day, we met up with friends and hung out in the Gorge. It was a beautiful day and our new puppy got a taste of adventure.

Kevin

We were appreciating the lack of pet responsibility after our dog Luke passed away last summer, but the longing for a fur buddy started to creep back in. The kids have been asking for a pug(!!?). Pugs are difficult to come by, but we managed to find a little guy.

Meet Kevin…

He’s quite a character! Loud snoring and little piggy noises all the time. He was sleeping with me and Jason and a rare period of silence caused me to panic and think he had stopped breathing! The kids are loving him so much!

Simon is 9

Simon turned 9 today! We’ve been doing low key family parties for a couple years now and keeping it simple.

Breakfast out with Grandma, a movie at the theater and cupcakes at home.

image

He chose chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting. Yummo!

Happy birthday, Simmy!

February Happenings

I’m not keeping up with this blog as much as I used to!

Jason and I did a 20 mile ride on our new bikes and the unexpected rain and wind was tough! We are looking forward to sunny days.

image

Speaking of new bikes, I don’t think I’ve mentioned it here yet. After my bike tour, I fell in love with the Terry road bike I rented and wanted one of my own. It is custom fit to me and rides like a dream!

image

Jason got the official notice that his driving licence has been suspended indefinitely. We knew he could not drive anymore but the reality of it stings. Retail therapy was in order and he bought himself a nicer road bike too.

Valentine’s day fun…

Lotus and I did a little hike together…

I joined the Rose City Yarn Crawl mystery knit-a-long. A bunch of participants knit an item, this year a cowl, with only 1/4 of the pattern revealed at a time, over four weeks. It was a lot of fun!

Next month, people will wear the cowl while participating in the yarn shop crawl.

Xander is 12

Xander Day was a good day! Breakfast out, a movie at the theater and then homemade dinner and apple pie at home.

Watch “Three Littlest Pet Shops” on YouTube

Lotus made her first Littlest Petshop video. Well, her first that made it to completion without technical difficulties.

More Snow

It’s so exciting for us to wake up to snow! A cozy fire in the woodstove, pancake breakfast and window gazing.

Happy New Year!

It was a fantastic year, aside from Jason’s three seizures, totaling the car, my dog dying and my dad dying…it was a fantastic year!

We went to Japan, we celebrated my 40th birthday at Great Wolf lodge, we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary at the beach and I took an amazing bike tour vacation to Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks.

We snapped a photo yesterday of Jason and I securing our margarita fixin’s to ring in the new year. It was Isaac’s first time in a liquor store and he was feeling his kidness in a grown up world.

image

It is official, I have forgotten how to operate a camera. We took the nicer point and shoot camera to the park and all kinds of blown highlights (white areas with no pixels) turned up in auto mode, even zoomed in on faces.

image

Yummy cinnamon rolls for breakfast today. The kids asked if we could have these every week, like we used to have donut day. These puppies are way too tedious to make on the regular…though, I have felt that way about many tasks that later become routine, so never say never.

Happy new year, everyone!

Christmas 2015

image

image

Jason got a new coffee maker and even Isaac and Xander joined in on the fancy coffees. I’m not sure how I feel about that.

image

Lotus got a train set, I know we’ve had before. We seem to purge and repurch a lot of things because I can’t stand the clutter of saving things.

image

Simon always asks for interesting things: a Squishable Anubis, “spitball” things that expand in water (pretty sure it’s the stuff in disposable diapers) and ferrofluid.

image

Xander only asked for a yeti Squishable, so I added in a game gift card and a handknit hat.

image

Isaac wanted an old Gamecube, an xbox controller for the computer and a game gift card. My gamer guy.

image

image

The next few days we got a little dusting of snow…

image

image

The day after that, sunshine and blue skies.

image

image

The flooded out trail looks so pretty I want to take the whole family back for photos…

Knitting again

My knitting took a major slump and I didn’t finish anything for a long time, but the mojo returned and things are getting done!

This is called My Favorite Things infinity scarf. A choose your own adventure by scouring the internet for different patterns to add my own favorite things to the scarf. One scarf, but three photos to show all of the different sections…

It’s pretty cozy!

Hat and cowl project I made from gifted yarn.

image

Jason tries on a secret Christmas knitting project for Xander. It’s called Ode to Joy and the music notes can be played.

image

That’s it for now but I’ve already started in on a light weight poncho so the knitting energy is still here. yay!
