Its got a huge hard pit in the shape of an overgrown pumpkin seed. It makes slicing it awkward. You don't eat the skin, I assume? and it's too slimy to peel and hold.
We've been doing it like this now...

I don't know where my first post went. To recap, I cut a mango using the first method shown at this link: http://startcooking.com/blog/217/How-to-Peel-a-Mango

They have a mango slicer??! wow, that's cool. I'd like to see it in action. I suppose I could slice it up and the kids could eat it with a toothpick. Toothpicks always make food more fun. Thanks for the links jen and wendy:)

I didn't follow the link, but here's how I learned to do it:
Look at the mango from the top. It is wider in one direction than another... that's the direction that big seed runs in, too.
Slice off the two "skinny" sides of the mango, top to bottom. Use a sharp knife to score the fruit inside each of these pieces, then press from the bottom to "pop" the fruit up.
As far as that you have left... we peel the skin off, roll up our sleeves, and enjoy. :)
