J-dogg sews up some Roman Shades

Is there anything this man cannot do??

The kids were waking up at the crack of dawn, with all the light that pours through the windows. We made a trip to the fabric store and bought some black out fabric along with some other fixin's for some roll up Roman shades.

We left out some crucial elements to ensure a nice fan fold draw, but I still think they work well enough for our needs.

More Jason creation

Not only the fruit of his loins (ha!), but I was referring to his photography work here.

Isaac spends a huge portion of the day holding a Transformer up and creating an imagined world of battle around it, with hand motioned explosions and an orchestra of sound effects. He's passed this on to Xander, so now we have a duet of these sounds.

Hot day and fun at the beach

We let the hens out to graze...

See the rocky edge of this dune? Xander thought it would be cool to sprint down it and tumble to a screeching halt just before diving over.

After the kids proved themselves too little for independent play on the dunes, I traded off and held Simon while Jason went up with them. I guess I was too slow:(

The Impossible Quiz

This game is quite clever and I can't stop playing! I got to #59 last night and haven't tried again today. There is a Youtube cheat that takes you up to #80, I will be needing.

UPDATE:

Here is the answer key, if you haven't found it yet. Jason got up to 105 last night. So painfully close! lol

UPDATE 2:

A combined effort by Omi and Jason:

Take that, bitches!

UPDATE 3 (Jason):

Okay, to be fair, we did use the answer list to get through the game, but it isn't called the "Impossible Quiz" for nothing. It wasn't cheating really, as even with the answers, it's still quite, if not incredibly difficult there towards the end. The last "Epic 10" are almost all timed and even knowing how to do them doesn't make them much easier. While you can cheat with the asteroids one (#86) using the "bridge" method, that doesn't work on the moving road (#106). That one takes a quick, but smooth hand on the mouse. And for #108, you just have to be FAST.

Could we have done it without cheating? Yeah, probably, but we seemed to be spending an awful amount of time on the game and we just wanted our lives back.

eh-hem...Jason? sounding a little feisty there. you're hot....grrrrr! Now go try it again blind folded.

Had some friends over and it was a great time in the back yard. Each of us has a six year old born in the same month.

sleepy time

I guess kitty is feeling at home around here. Its been so long since I've had a kitten, I seriously thought it was a cake walk. I'd just show her the litter box and all would be good (especially since the ad said "litter box trained." ummm, so not the case. She wanted to use our bed for her peeing and poo'ing and her litter box for sleeping.

Four month weight loss photos

I'm finally turning that corner of actually looking thinner. Amazingly, I still have quite a chunk of weight to lose yet. I'm anticipating reaching final goal weight in the fall. Definitely by my birthday in November. We can have another awesome weekend in the city...but this time not come home with a party favor! wink wink, know what I mean? LOL

Also, I learned of the hispanic tradition of shaving babies heads at a couple months of age. How could it be I am just learning about this?? Jason and I shaved Simon's head, since it was resembling the "elephant man" with the long patches and bare spots. His buzz is already growing back in nicely! I wish I had known to do this with Isaac when he was a baby. His was terrible!

more cloth diaper fluff!

Amey sent a bigger wool cover for Simon and it is so bright and beautiful! I love it!

He's getting so big, I actually find him sliding down in my arm if I try to hold him with one arm, and nearly drop him. It will be nice when he can have some play time with toys on a blanket. For now, the baby carrier on my front or back is the only way to go.

He's an open mouth kid. haha! I cannot get a single pic with his mouth closed.

Meal plan Monday

inspired by Wendy! And then I found my way to I'm an Organized Junkie, where she found her inspiration.

With all my post-baby weight loss and generally eating healthier, cooking at home has become a necessity, regardless of how much I've disliked cooking. My kids were starting to think the beep of a microwave was the call for dinner. (ie, bean burritos...heat up canned beans, heat up tortillas, add toppings, voila!)

Fortunately, this forced cooking and searching for yummy, healthy recipes has become enjoyable to me. Imagine that! It was only a matter of time before I went from only being mostly like my mother to the complete transformation.

So here it is. Our dinner plans for this week. We are on a spending freeze this week and trying to use up the stuff in the pantry before we shop again. As you can see, mostly vegetarian.

Monday: Oatmeal pancakes with peanut butter apple slices.

Tuesday: vegetarian split pea soup (crock pot version) and homemade cornbread.

Wednesday: Whole Wheat pasta and tomato sauce. green beans

Thursday: egg casserole (because we get so many eggs from our hens, I try to do something big with them each week. This recipe uses 12 eggs!)

Friday: homemade cheese pizza with whatever toppings we can find in the cupboard (pineapple, etc)

Saturday: Jason makes Natalie's enchiladas (in comments) and Spanish rice.
