So many fun things packed into three days

Jason had the week off from work, in addition to his long holiday weekend. We lazed about for most of it but decided to get out for a short adventure for a couple nights.

I booked a condo in Gold Beach, a small beach town in Oregon, (way) south on the 101, and reserved some seats on the 65 mile hydro-jet boat tour on the Rogue river.

We also made several stops along the way!

Not even an hour from home, we made our first stop at the Enchanted Forest. It’s filled with nursery rhymes and related activities. Isaac was very pleased to be able to read us the rhymes along the way.

We finally made it to the hotel. It was a very nice two level condo with a huge bedroom upstairs…

The view was definitely beach…unfortunately a little far away.

…and this carnival was directly to the right of our view, churning out a constant motor/generator sound that drowned out any possible ocean sounds:( Luckily we didn’t hear anything with the slider doors shut.

On to the boat ride!

We managed to get front row seats of this FIVE HOUR TOUR. I knew it was going to be a bit too long for the kids but it was worth it. We saw a lot of critters, especially birds. Lots of different kinds of birds. deer, an otter…

They dropped us off at a resort for dinner and we ate outside on a deck overlooking the Rogue.

The ride back was quicker, thank goodness!

Simon slept on the ride in but on the way back he gave Jason a work out keeping him in the boat. He loved sticking his head in the wind…

Day three! We checked out of the hotel and started our journey home up the 101, along the coast.

There are so many damn things to stop and see I think we could spend a month on the Oregon coast alone!

There is a life-sized dinosaur park, Xander decided was his favorite stop of the entire trip.

The barking noise out here was incredible! I asked Xander if he could hear it and he said “No, all I hear is a bunch of planes.” haha! the noise did sound a bit like plane engines.

I really love reading about your Oregon adventures. You almost radiate a good time. 🙂 Oh, and I have a plant for you.

Oooh, you went to that big game place! Lyla has been wanting to check it out. Will have to see what you thought of it! And I have always been intrigued by the sea lion place. Some people I know didn’t like it, so it is good to see a positive review!
